This document is intended to introduce newcomers to the basics of CTDL and to provide those familiar with the description language with a means for quick reference and example solutions in describing credentials and other key entities in the credentialing ecosystem. It is not intended to be a complete guide for using all of the properties in the dictionary of the description language. The CTDL is designed to enable: (1) creation of simple descriptions and to serve as a basis for website markup; and (2) rich descriptions to support fairly refined comparisons among credentials.
