Alabama is hosting the Alabama Interstate Development Convening on April 5, 2021 to offer a space for states to discuss the myriad elements of talent development planning. The event, keynoted by Mr. Jamie Merisotis of the Lumina Foundation, is designed to serve as a professional development experience including over a dozen breakout sessions covering key education and workforce development topics that are germane to developing a statewide talent development strategic plan.

Scott Cheney, CEO of Credential Engine, will be presenting “The Alabama Occupational Ontology” alongside Dr. Robin McGill, Alabama Commission on Higher Education, at 3:30pm CST. They will touch upon the role of credential transparency as it relates to helping the state meet its education and workforce goals.

The convening also hopes to serve as a catalyst to curate consensus on priority action items for the reauthorization of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Higher Education Act (HEA).
