A recent report from Advance CTE titled Without Limits: A Shared Vision for the Future of Career Technical Education (CTE Without Limits) puts forth a bold vision for a cohesive, flexible, and responsive career preparation ecosystem that will close equity gaps in educational outcomes and workforce readiness, and leverage CTE as a catalyst for ensuring each learner can reach success in the career of their choice.

CTE Without Limits was developed with input from nearly 200 national, state and local education and workforce development leaders. It sets forth five inter-connected and equally critical principles:

    1. Each learner engages in a cohesive, flexible, and responsive career preparation ecosystem
    2. Each learner feels welcome in, is supported by, and has the means to succeed in the career preparation ecosystem
    3. Each learner skillfully navigates their own career journey
    4. Each learner’s skills are counted, valued, and portable
    5. Each learner can access CTE without borders

Turning CTE Without Limits into a reality will require a shared commitment and shared ownership among our leaders and practitioners at the national, state and local levels and across education, workforce development, industry and philanthropy.

Credential Engine proudly endorses CTE Without Limits and its call to increase equity and eliminate barriers for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) through partnerships that facilitate access and use of better credential data. We firmly believe in the power of these shared values and actively work to achieve them through credential transparency. Better credential data, specifically on high-quality CTE programs, can help individuals find, compare, and act upon education and career pathways that are most relevant to them. State leaders and policymakers can also use these data to uncover barriers, understand needs, allocate resources, and support CTE pathways. But it takes all of us to make this vision a reality. Credential Engine is committed to helping forge partnerships and collaborations that create the necessary linked open data network that everyone can access to find the full range of opportunities available for learning, advancement, and meaningful careers.

In total, 40 national organizations representing the full continuum of CTE learners and stakeholders have signed on to support CTE Without Limits. You can learn more about these supporters and why they believe in CTE Without Limits here.
