The U.S. Department of Labor has opened applications for Round 10 of the Workforce Data Quality Initiative (WDQI) Grant, presenting a valuable opportunity for State Workforce Agencies (SWAs) across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories to enhance their workforce data systems.

This grant supports projects aimed at improving the quality, accessibility, and public utility of workforce data. A central goal of the initiative is to ensure that workforce provider performance information and outcomes are made available to the public in clear, standardized formats, such as dashboards, scorecards, or integrated digital platforms, while maintaining full compliance with federal and state privacy laws

A defining feature of this round of WDQI funding is its strong emphasis on credential transparency. Applicants must outline plans to support credential transparency, ensuring that individuals, employers, and policymakers can easily understand and compare the value and outcomes associated with various education and training options.

Credential Engine stands ready to support states in aligning their proposals with WDQI requirements. Through our open-source technologies, the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL) and the Credential Registry, Credential Engine enables states to catalog, connect, and make sense of the wide array of credentials available in today’s complex education and training landscape.

By incorporating Credential Engine’s open-sourced tools and services, states can meet the WDQI’s credential transparency requirements more effectively and build systems that are sustainable and scalable for long-term workforce development.

The deadline to apply for Round 10 of the WDQI Grant is May 27th, 2025. State agencies interested in incorporating Credential Engine’s solutions into their applications are encouraged to reach out for support. Credential Engine is available to provide guidance on language, planning, and implementation strategies that align with the grant’s goals.
