July 24th, 2025 (Washington, D.C.) –  Credential Engine is excited to announce that Jennifer Engle, Ph.D., is the newest member of Credential Engine’s Board of Directors. Dr. Engle serves as Research Professor and Director of Policy and Strategy at the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW). Her research and work have focused on using data to improve postsecondary access, affordability, completion, and value for underserved students. Her extensive experience with data-driven solutions and focus on equitable outcomes will support Credential Engine’s work to provide transparent, comparable information about credentials and skills. With this addition, Credential Engine’s Board of Directors comprises members spanning education, workforce, human resources, labor, and policy.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Engle to the Board,” says Barbara Gellman-Danley, Board Chair. “Her extensive experience in postsecondary outcomes and her dedication to improving access to, and getting value out of, data about our education and training systems will be invaluable to help guide the critical work that Credential Engine is doing.”

Prior to joining Georgetown CEW, Dr. Engle was a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of Education, where she led the Raise the Bar: Attaining College Equity and Excellence initiative focused on implementing data and evidence-based strategies to improve postsecondary outcomes. At the Gates Foundation, she was the founding director of the U.S. Program Data team and served as deputy director on the Postsecondary Success team, where her work focused on improving the quality and use of data across the education-to-workforce pipeline. She also led the Postsecondary Value Commission, which engaged leading experts to develop a framework for defining and measuring equitable post-college outcomes for all students. Dr. Engle holds an MA and PhD in education from American University.

“Credential Engine has been critical to elevating the need for transparency about education and training opportunities – and outcomes – in this country. We cannot mind what we cannot measure, and Credential Engine is working to ensure that all credentials count when important policy decisions are made. I’m honored to join the board,” says Dr. Engle.

“Dr. Engle brings exactly the kind of expertise we need as we continue expanding our impact,” says Credential Engine CEO, Scott Cheney. “Her track record of using data to drive meaningful change in postsecondary education makes her an ideal fit for our Board and our mission of ensuring all learners have access to clear, actionable information about their educational and career pathways.”
