Charting the Course: Exploring the Future of Learn and Work Systems in Indiana

November 13, 2019

As part of a grant from a new initiative of the National Science Foundation called Convergence Accelerator, Credential Engine, in partnership with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and Lumina Foundation, is carrying out a project to illuminate Indiana’s learn and work ecosystem.

Indiana’s Learn and Work Ecosystem is changing quickly

In the face of an uncertain economic future, American workers and employers need good information to make decisions. Too often information that people need is trapped in paper documents, pdf files, and closed proprietary tools. That’s why so many initiatives are underway in Indiana to modernize key data systems. Through this initiative, we’re working to ensure that Indiana students, adult workers, education providers, and employers benefit from these investments.

This November, we’ll be coming together to set Indiana’s data priorities.

Teams of data specialists, policy practitioners, and education and workforce experts from across the nation will gather for a conversation aimed at defining and describing the most important ways data affects the lives of people in Indiana. Goals include:

  • Promoting a shared vision of a connected learn and work ecosystem
  • Identifying important use cases for Indiana’s learn and work ecosystem (including factors that may impact individuals, such as disabilities, family responsibilities, etc.)
  • Envisioning how competencies could be used to support identified use cases
  • Generating ideas for potential applications that could meet different users’ needs
