On November 26 and 27, SIU Associate Director of the Center for Workforce Development, Jeanne Kitchens, and technology expert consultant, Phil Barker, will travel to Paris, France to participate in a meeting of World Reference Learning (WRL) experts.
Since 2014, UNESCO has been working towards developing a set of WRLs to facilitate the international comparison and recognition of technical and vocational qualifications. Working in partnership with a wide range of organizations and countries—including the European Commission, ILO, CARICOM, and the African Union—the WRL experts meet biannually to discuss progress on the conceptual development of these standards, share experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration. To date, the team has progressed a great deal in the development of a tool to help facilitate qualification comparisons.
