Lead Partner: Credential Engine is working with the California MAP Initiative to build a statewide Credential Registry aimed at increasing recognition of credit for prior learning. Credential Engine also has partnerships with Chaffey College and the Foothill-De Anza region, which have each published credentials, courses, and competencies.
In addition to Credential Engine, California partners with:
- California Community College Chancellor’s Office CPL Initiative
- Chaffey College
- De Anza College
- Foothill College
California is using CTDL to standardize and share credential and Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) data statewide, making opportunities more transparent and accessible for students, veterans, working adults, and apprentices. This approach reduces barriers to degrees, strengthens policy alignment, and supports innovations in advising, workforce planning, and AI-driven tools, with colleges across the state already publishing credentials, courses, and competencies to the Registry.
California has published over 2,500 credentials to the Registry!
