The California MAP Initiative is committed to using CTDL to ensure clear, consistent, and accessible information about Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) and credentials across the state’s community colleges. This transparency empowers students, especially veterans, working adults, and apprentices, to understand and access CPL opportunities upfront, reducing time and cost to degree, and supports equitable access in line with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office Vision 2030. CTDL’s structured, machine-readable format standardizes credential data, enabling MAP to publish CPL information to the registry where it can be searched, linked, and used across systems. This not only strengthens interoperability and policy alignment but also fuels innovations in academic advising, workforce planning, and AI-powered tools that help learners connect prior learning to college credit and career pathways.

Chaffey College has published credentials, including digital badges, along with associated courses and competencies. Similarly, the Foothill-De Anza region has undertaken its own initiative to publish credentials, courses, and competencies.
