Accelerate Montana, a nonprofit workforce and economic development organization affiliated with the University of Montana, is facilitating the creation of a statewide credential registry that will make Montana’s educational credentials, skills, and career pathways more transparent and accessible to students, workers, and employers across the state. Goals of the project with Credential Engine include:

• Start the Montana Credential Registry with a one-year pilot focused on non-credit credentials offered in Montana.
• Provide a common data language for non-credit credentials offered in Montana.
  
• Assist 2-year and tribal colleges to collect non-credit credential data and establish processes for maintaining and expanding listed credentials after the pilot period ends.
• Align the statewide registry with complimentary state initiatives, including the Validated Skills Training program, Montana University System’s Year to Career initiative, and developing criteria to identify credentials of value.
