Why We’re Committed

There are many puzzles in life that we strive to solve and navigating the complexities of credentialing has historically been one of the more complicated puzzles.  Demystifying training opportunities has to remain a priority for everyone involved in the workforce and economic development ecosystems. We are proud to partner with Credential Engine in Western NC as we continue to bridge opportunities to prospective students so that starting and finishing a career pathway isn’t one of life’s most complex puzzles.” – Emily Nicholson, Executive Director, Land of Sky P20 Council

About

North Carolina

Forsyth Technical Community College

Forsyth Technical Community College has been leading efforts in their region to align the education-workforce systems and accelerate learning pathways. Through a partnership with Credential Engine, which started in 2021, Forsyth Tech has published transparent, linked open data about badges, diplomas, certificates, and associate degrees to the Credential Registry. This includes courses, competencies, and pathways in the Machining, Mechatronics, and Welding fields. Forsyth Tech’s Registry data can be viewed in the Credential Finder!

Land of Sky P20 Council

Utilizing Credential Engine’s 2024 Gates Grant powered by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Land of Sky P20 Council (LoSP20) led the charge to improve the accessibility of workforce credentials across western North Carolina by publishing NC Workforce Credentials data from participating regional institutions to the Credential Registry. To increase visibility for students and job seekers, LoSP20 leverages Registry data via Credential Finder widget embedded on their website!

You can learn more about this work in the Land of Sky P20 Council Credential Attainment Interview Series here
