Why We’re Committed
“Building a cloud-based interoperable data system allows us to register the credentialing programs offered within the state so people can understand what those programs do. A person can have immediate access to their credential upon earning it and can transmit it to employers. It is revolutionary.” – Henry Mack, Former Senior Chancellor at the Florida Department of Education
About
Florida
Leaders in Florida looked to better align and integrate the state’s workforce education and development systems, and they recognized that making information about all credentials transparent and publicly accessible using the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL) was key. To implement this vision for workforce and education data integration, the Florida Department of Education directed a multi-agency coalition to standardize information on credentials, which powers the Education Meets Opportunity Platform (EMOP).Â
EMOP provides Florida agencies and leaders with consistent data on all Florida credential programs, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Eligible Training Providers, and industry-recognized credentials. Credential information collected and maintained by Florida Virtual Campus and FloridaCommerce is standardized to CTDL. Additionally, EMOP consumes industry recognized credentials published to the Credential Registry by national and global credential providers.
Credential Engine’s support of EMOP through standard alignment of credentials ensures that Florida’s decision-makers can make wise policy and resourcing decisions, as well as the degree to which credentials are serving Florida’s labor market.Â
Florida has published over 10,000 credentials to the Credential Registry offered by public colleges and universities and WIOA Eligible Training Providers.Â
Find credentials and training providers on Florida’s Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) in a public Credential Registry collection.
