ProPath Illinois worked to enhance and align the data most important for career pathway decision-making. The project’s goal was to empower learners and workers of all ages with comprehensive and actionable information on learning opportunities and credentials to make optimal decisions about their education and career pathways. ProPath was powered by the Credential Registry and provided users with a custom tool to find training providers and programs based on their employment and career needs by aligning existing data on learning opportunities and credentials, using the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL), from organizations approved and included on Illinois’ Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL).

Credential Engine teamed up with the Southern Illinois University – Center for Workforce Development under the direction of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Office of Employment and Training to leverage the technology platform and resources of both the Credential Registry and Illinois workNet to create a cloud-based statewide platform which links program data with pathways, credentials, competencies, and outcomes data. 

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has published over 3,000 all credentials, learning outcomes, and additional information.
